Emma F Asbridge
I am an Post Doctoral Research Fellow in the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences at the University of Wollongong, Australia. My research interests include the response of coastal ecosystems to climate change with a keen focus on the response of mangroves to sea-level rise and extreme events such as tropical cyclones. I am interested in the role of coastal wetlands in mitigating climate change (blue carbon) and the associated services they provide and how we can best tailor management efforts to maintain and maximise these services into the future. I have in-depth expertise using a range of Earth observation data, remote sensing technologies and remotely piloted aircraft (i.e., drones) to map and quantify spatial and temporal changes in coastal ecosystems. Understanding the drivers of change is important for assessing the resilience of coastal ecosystems across a variety of geomorphic settings in response to climate and environment change.
