Aim: The aim of this workshop is to provide updates on scientific diving standards and safety practices, and to engage the community in discussions on regulatory frameworks and future improvements. By fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration, we aim to enhance the overall safety and effectiveness of scientific diving operations.
Workshop Overview: Building on the success of the 2024 workshop, "Addressing Growing Regulatory Challenges in Scientific Diving," this year's session aims to continue the conversation and provide crucial updates to the scientific diving community. The previous workshop focused on the regulatory landscape and its impact on scientific diving practices, highlighting the need for ongoing dialogue and adaptation.
In this year's workshop, we will begin with a recap of the key points discussed in 2024, ensuring that new participants are brought up to speed and returning attendees can refresh their knowledge. We will then provide updates on the latest updates to the scientific diving standard and review the actions that have occurred out of the previous workshop: Dive Officer workshop and the start of the dive log and incident database discussions.
Guest presenters, including a regulator from WorkSafe Victoria, and a hyperbaric specialist, will share their expertise on Victorian regulations and diving safety, respectively. The session will conclude with a collaborative brainstorming segment during lunch time the next day, inviting participants to share their ideas on how the ANZSDA can better support the community and how your nominated organisational representatives can engage with you to receive your valuable feedback.
This event is student-only and can be selected during registration.
Please make your own way to Morris House (Level 1).
